The 2024 Acura TLX uses 0W-20 full synthetic oil meeting SP specifications. European manufacturers are notably pickier about oil specifications than Japanese or American brands — in addition to the standard API certification, Acura requires oil that meets their own proprietary specification (SP). Not all 0W-20 oils meet this additional standard, so check the bottle for the Acura-specific certification before purchasing.
The 2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder takes 4 quarts with a new filter. Acura uses a cartridge-style oil filter (15400-PLM-A02) rather than the spin-on type common on Japanese vehicles. Cartridge filters are slightly more involved to change — you'll need a cap-style filter wrench — but they're environmentally friendlier since only the filter element is replaced, not the entire housing.
